Altenso Australia
Official launch of Altenso Australia
The new subsidiary Altenso Australia Pty Ltd, with offices in Sydney, has officially started operations to bring its renewable energy expertise in utility-scale battery storage and power conversion for hydrogen applications to Australia’s clean energy transition. This expansion marks a strategic step in the system integrator’s global growth strategy, aiming at the realisation of a gigawatt-scale BESS pipeline as well as further hydrogen projects in Australia.
Altenso Australia is already working on two major battery storage projects, with project developer Avenis Energy, each capable of storing 480 megawatt-hours of energy, with ready-to-build status expected in the next months. BESS are widely recognised as essential enablers of high renewable energy penetration, not only by firming the intermittency of renewable sources but also by enhancing grid stability, reliability, and security.

Altenso Australia commits to Australia’s clean energy future

Supporting the region’s ambitious energy goals
Altenso Australia specializes in large-scale battery storage projects, green hydrogen applications, and hybrid solutions for both off-grid and grid-connected energy systems. Like its parent company, Altenso, the new subsidiary is backed by SMA Technology AG, leveraging over 40 years of expertise in inverter technology. This includes advanced solutions featuring grid-forming capabilities, inertia, and black-start functionality.
The launch of Altenso Australia is part of Altenso’ s global expansion strategy, extending its operations beyond Germany to South Africa and Australia.
