At this grid-independent hydrogen plant, Altenso has taken on a new and unique project scope: from delivering and commissioning medium-voltage power stations for PV and BESS, to installing a 40-foot rectifier system for solar-based electrolysis. The company has made a comprehensive contribution to enabling large-scale hydrogen production and efficient operations. The Hydrogen Dune plant belongs to Cleanergy Solutions Namibia, a powerful partnership between Ohlthaver & List and CMB.TECH.

Comprehensive system integration of PV, BESS and hydrogen application
Phase 1 (early 2025)
We commissioned the PV inverter station (incl. MV transformer and MV switchgear) and the 5.9 MW/5MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), which enables more independent and continuous hydrogen production.
Phase 2 (September 2025)
The team commissioned the power conversion unit for hydrogen production, containing a 40 foot containerized solution with 2 SMA Electrolyzer Converter UP as well as an inhouse developed energy management system (EMS).
