RheinEnergie visit during key component delivery
We recently had the pleasure of hosting our strategic partner RheinEnergie and battery supplier BYD at the construction site of our 24.5 MW / 64 MWh BESS project in Einbeck, Germany. This on-site meeting was initiated on a special occasion: the delivery and placement of key components such as Medium Voltage Power Stations (MVPS) and battery platforms, making visible progress on the construction site.

Completion of battery platforms in full swing
After arrival of MVPS including SMA Sunny Central Storage UP battery inverters, the delivery and completion of battery platforms is now in full swing. The invitation to a joint site visit provided an ideal opportunity to inspect component quality and exchange insights on project execution, quality assurance, and technical specifications.
BYD delivered platforms equipped with 8 battery racks each, while the final design calls for 10 racks per platform. The remaining racks will be installed in the coming days, completing the platforms and finalizing component placement. The next major steps will include cable work, energization, and commissioning - leading up to the start of operations. RheinEnergie Trading will then assume operational management of the battery park. After plant handover Altenso remains involved in the infrastructure project providing maintenance services.
"We are pleased to witness this successful milestone of the installation of the first of many projects which we intend to implement together with our partners at SMA Altenso“
Ulrich Bemmann, Head of Renewable Energies at RheinEnergie

BESS as cornerstone for renewable integration
The Einbeck BESS is a grid-scale battery park designed to support Germany’s energy transition. By flexibly storing and releasing energy from renewable sources, the system enhances grid stability and reduces reliance on conventional power plants - contributing to a secure and future-ready energy supply across the country.
Strategic partnership for a greener future
As the demand for renewable energy grows, so does the need for grid-connected BESS solutions. RheinEnergie and Altenso agreed on the realization of BESS projects with a capacity of several hundred megawatts. Battery Park Einbeck is the first joint project under construction, with grid connection planned for the first half of 2026.
